Tour 1 – Munich, Leipzig, Berlin

Day 1: Arrival in Munich, transfer & Check-in to your centrally located hostel or multi-bedded hotel in Munich. On a guided bike tour through the city you’ll pass the main sightseeing highlights such as Marienplatz with the famous Glockenspiel, the Bavarian Parliament building and the English Garden.

Day 2: Visit the BMW World and Museum and experience the history of a global brand, new visions for tomorrow and the future of mobility. On an excursion to the Dachau Concentration Camp Memorial a guided tour informs you about a dark chapter in German history.

Day 3: One of the highlights is awaiting you today: on a worthwhile trip to Schloss Neuschwansteinthe fairy tale castles of Schloss Neuschwanstein and Schloss Linderhof you can experience the beautiful Bavarian landscape and get in touch with the life of the former Bavarian kings & queens. Complete your day with a traditional German dinner at a Bavarian Brauhaus.

Day 4: Today you are invited to join a fascinating tour of the Olympic sporting facilities of 1974 with a guided tour of the Olympic Stadium and riding up the Olympic Tower. Enjoy the last wonderful view over Munich before you are leaving to Leipzig by train or private coach transfer.

Leipzig City HallDay 5: A guided walking tour of the Old Town in Leipzig shows you around the beautiful city. Leipzig is lively as never before: nightlife, culture, sports and history. Gewandhaus, Auerbachs Keller and Nikolaikirche – all exciting stations to discover. Highly recommended: a visit of the Panometer Leipzig, the world’s largest 360° Pamorama. Yadegar Asisi’s 32 m-high panoramas have already impressed several million visitors!

Day 6: A guided tour at the “Völkerschlachtdenkmal” (Monument to the Battle of the Nations) and the Forum 1813 gives you an impressive overview about this significant historical event in Europe. An incredible panoramic view of Leipzig and the surrounding area completes this visit. In the afternoon you are leaving for Berlin.

Day 7: Historical walking tour “Discover Berlin” with sights like Brandenburg Gate, Reichstag Building, the MemorialBerlin to the Murdered Jews of Europe, Museum Island, New Synagogue, Red Town Hall and many more. Get a first impression of the German capital and enjoy its various shopping opportunities in the afternoon. 

Day 8: This spectacular building of the Jewish Museum is one of the landmarks of the city. The interactive exhibition provides information on 2000 years of German-Jewish history and Jewish culture in Germany. Experience Jewish Life on a guided tour. At the memorial site of the Gedenkstätte Hohenschönhausen the guides take you through the former Stasi prison and recount stories of the time of political persecution during the communist dictatorship in East Germany.

Day 9: A day trip to Potsdam will take you back to Prussian history. Enjoy the city with its castles and parks, which belong to the UNESCO World Heritage. Admire the magnificent summer residence of Frederick the Great: Schloss Sanssouci! Walk through the beautiful park and glide on felt slippers through historic rooms. In the afternoon you Schloss Cecilienhof, a palace built in the English Tudor manor style, is the place where the summit between victors of the Second World War took place. Learn interesting details on a guided tour. A highlight on the last evening in Germany will make your tour an unforgettable one: enjoy the Grand Show at Friedrichstadt Palast, home to the biggest theater stage in the world.

Day 10: It’s time to say goodbye: enjoy your last breakfast in Berlin. Check-out and transfer to the airport.

This a&o hostel is located only four S-Bahn stations from the Hauptbahnhof (central station). Conference rooms are available for class trip group projects during your stay. The Schlosspark and famous Schloss Nymphenburg (castle) are located in close proximity. The centre of town and the famous Theresienwiese are just a few minutes away. In the evening, play a round of table soccer or billiard in the lobby.

The Meininger Hotel Leipzig opened in spring 2017 between the Hauptbahnhof (central station) and the limits of Altstadt (old town), making it an ideal starting point for visits to and around Leipzig.
