Tour 4 - Discover Germany and Austria

Map Tour 4Day 1:Arrival in Frankfurt, transfer & check-in to your centrally located hostel or multi-bedded hotel. Explore the newly reconstructed Old Town of the city between the famous Römer and the Frankfurt Cathedral.

Day 2: You are leaving for Weimar and stop for a visit of the famous Wartburg in Eisenach on the way. Explore this impressive castle complex which was erected in 1080 and where Martin Luther translated the New Testament in 1521. In the evening you’ll follow the traces of Goethe and Schiller on a guided city walk through Weimar.Weimar

Day 3: Visit the Buchenwald Memorial which is located above the city of Weimar, on a guided tour and learn more about a dark chapter of the German history. Transfer to Nuremberg afterwards. On a scavenger hunt through Nuremberg you’ll discover how harmonious the interplay of historic buildings and modern architecture can be. Dive into the impressive history of the second largest city in Bavaria.

Day 4: Day excursion to Rothenburg ob der Tauber – a romantic city with winding narrow alleys, gorgeous half-timbered buildings and medieval flair. Visit the Medieval Crime and Justice Museum where about 50,000 exhibits from more than 1,000 years of German and European justice history tell interesting stories about criminal cases, torture, hangmen, witches and robbers.

MunichDay 5: Transfer to Munich in the morning. On a guided bike tour through the city around noon you’ll pass the main sightseeing highlights such as Marienplatz with the famous Glockenspiel, the Bavarian Parliament building and the English Garden. Afterwards you are invited to join a fascinating tour of the Olympic sporting facilities of 1974 with a guided tour of the Olympic Stadium and a ride up the Olympic Tower.

Day 6: Day Excursion to the Dachau Concentration Camp Memorial. The aims of the guided tours at Dachau are to preserve and create the memorial site as witnesses to the crimes of National Socialism, as places of remembrance of suffering of the victims and as a place of learning for future generations.Schloss Neuschwanstein

Day 7: One of the highlights is awaiting you today: on a trip to the fairy tale castles of Schloss Neuschwanstein and Schloss Linderhof you can experience the beautiful Bavarian landscape and get in touch with the life of the former Bavarian kings & queens. Complete your day with a traditional German dinner at a Bavarian Brauhaus.

Day 8: On your private coach transfer to Salzburg you will visit Schloss Herrenchiemsee located on a small island in the beautiful Chiemsee. Enjoy this magnificent castle and the view over the lake and the Bavarian mountains. Arriving in Salzburg a Sound of Music bus tour will introduce you to the city of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.

SalzburgDay 9: Visit of the Hohensalzburg Fortress, the largest and best-preserved castle complex in Europe. Located high above the Baroque towers of the city, a train ride up to the fortress will bring you directly into the mighty walls of these sturdy defenses. You are leaving for Vienna in the afternoon. Stroll over the ground of the Vienna Prater in the evening and take a ride with the giant ferris wheel. Enjoy the magnificent view over the city at night.

Day 10: A guided walk will show you the picturesque Old Town of Vienna. Pass famous buildings like the Hofburg, the Stephansdom (St. Stephen's Cathedral) and Spanische Hofreitschule (Spanish riding school). You’ll spend a royal afternoon with visiting the summer residence of Sisi – the famous Schönbrunn Palace.

Day 11: It’s time to say goodbye: enjoy your last breakfast in the city. Check-out and transfer to the airport.

This a&o Hostel is wonderfully located close to the Nürnberger Hauptbahnhof (central station). Many of the sights, shops and restaurants are either a short walk away or easy to reach by public transport. These accommodations opened in 2011 and offer table soccer and billiard tables as well as bicycle rental and a panorama bar with a view over the city.

A favourite for class trips because of its central location and excellent price/performance ratio. This great a&o Hostel opened in March 2013 and is located close to the new Vienna Hauptbahnhof (central station). This makes it a perfect location for trips to the historic city centre.
